Summer Learning Journey - Week 2 | Day 1 - TAKING THE LEAD | Activity 2 - ???

Well, hello folks! Friends & Families! Classmates! Patrick here. Merry late post everyone! Today we are going to calculate how long it is from 7 April 1985 to 9 July 2010. Why? For a person called Jessa's age. Hope you enjoy!

7 April 1985 - 9 July 2010

1985 - 2010 = 25 Years | 1985 + 5 = 90 | 90 + 20 = 2010
April - July = 3 Months | April = 4th | July = 7th | 7 - 4 = 3
7th - 9th  = 2 Days | 7 + 2 = 9

Answer:  25Y 3M 2D

Summer Learning Journey - Week 1 | Day 5 - AGAINST THE ODDS | Activity 1 - National Treasure

Well, hello folks! Friends & Families! Patrick here. A bit behind schedule but that's all right. So, Sophie Pascoe. You know? The para-swimmer? At the young age of 2, she sadly got ran over by a lawnmower. Her leg got amputated in hospital. Nevertheless, she continued her dreams of being a competitive swimmer. It actually worked! Without the Paralympics, people like Sophie wouldn't achieve her dream. So as the other competitors. Today, I'll be sharing 3 things I would treasure. Hope you enjoy!

Summer Learning Journey - Week 1 | Day 4 - INDIVIDUAL PURSUITS | Activity 3 - Worth Her Weight In Gold

Well, hello folks! Friends & Families! Classmates! Patrick here. I have a busy schedule ahead because of my broken hand. Have you heard of Valerie Adams? Half sister of basketball player Steven Adams? I for sure do! She won the Halberg Award for New Zealand Sportswoman of the Year 7 consecutive times from 2006 through 'til 2012. What an achievement! Valerie Adams is a New Zealander but is also Tongan. For this task, we have to make a brochure to any country important to us. Hope you enjoy!

Summer Learning Journey - Week 1 | Day 4 - INDIVIDUAL PURSUITS | Activity 1 - Making A Racket

Well, hello folks! Friends & Families! Classmates! Patrick here. Have you ever heard of Venus Williams & Serena Williams? The 2 sisters were one of several women to prove to men that women could play Tennis. One unfair disadvantage that women had when playing Tennis is that men received higher wages than women would. I have watched 2 videos about this and I am going to tell you 3 things I've learnt from these videos. Also, I have to say something that I would still like to know. Hope you enjoy!

Summer Learning Journey - Week 1 | Day 3 - TEAM PLAYERS | Activity 1 - Rugby Superstars

Well, hello folks! Friends & Families! Classmates! Patrick here. Good morning everyone! This morning's task is about having superpowers. Do you know Jonah Lomu? The youngest to be picked in the All Blacks at 19 years old? He was very good at rugby and he had 63 caps and 37 tries. Remember the old captain of the All Blacks Richie McCaw? The person who got the Halberg award. These two are superstars and I believe they have some sort of magical superpower inside of them to boost them. Hmm... I wonder if I was a superhero with magical powers. Well, that is part of the task. I'll name 3 superpowers I'd have and why. Hope you enjoy!

Summer Learning Journey - Week 1 | Day 2 - UP IN THE AIR | Activity 3 - Miracle On The Hudson

Well, hello folks! Friends & Families! Classmates! Patrick here. The final activity of the day is about bravery. Mr. Chesley Sullenberger was an airline pilot for around 30 years. 10-11 years ago he was famous for landing his A320 safely in the middle of Hudson river. The cause was from his 2 engines losing electricity thus shutting them off. All 155 on board were safe. The miraculous event is now known as the "Miracle On The Hudson". One time, I had to do something brave as well. I'll go ahead and show you. Hope you enjoy!

Summer Learning Journey - Week 1 | Day 2 - UP IN THE AIR | Activity 2 - One Small Step For Man

Well, hello folks! Friends & Families! Classmates! Patrick here. This activity involves winding time back to 1969. Neil Armstrong, together with Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins successfully landed on the moon. The dangerous achievement was made. I'd love imagine what Neil Armstrong's reaction would be. But today, I will cosplay as Neil Armstrong taking a step into the inevitable achievement. I will tell my reaction in a poem. I wrote a haiku. If you don't know what a haiku is, it is a short poem consisting of three lines. The 1st line has 5 syllables, the 2nd line has 7 syllables and the 3rd line has 5 syllables. Hope you enjoy!

Summer Learning Journey | Week 1 | Day 1, EXPLORERS | Activity 1, Setting Sail

Well hello folks! Friends & families! Classmates! It's finally here! The Summer Learning Journey from 2019 to 2020! This activity is about travelling the vast ocean. Did you know that a person named Nainoa Thompson, a master of navigating, used ancient polynesian wayfinding skills to sail around the world? In 2015, him and his crew stopped by at New Zealand. There, he came and visited the Manaiakalani schools in Auckland. I'd like to be just like him so I'll also be sailing around the world. It'll be quite long so I have brought 10 food items. What is yours?

Malala's Post 1

I am of the view that the school will one day reopen, but while leaving. I looked at the buildings as if I wouldn't come here again. They can stop us going to school, but they can't stop us learning!

My Pepeha - Patrick

This is my pepeha. This shows my identity, my family and where I live. Here's the order of what you need to include

Line 1. Any greeting, saying hello in different languages like what I used. Kamusta.
Line 2. The mountain you belong to. In my pepeha, I used Puketapapa.
Line 3. The ocean you belong to. I used Moananui A Kiwa.

Line 8. Your dad's first and last name.
Line 9. Your mom's first name.
Line 10. Your name.
Line 11. Your ending conclusion

You may be wondering why your name isn't on the top of the pepeha. Your name is at the end because all the other stuff came before you. The oceans, the mountains and all the other ones explained. Your origin.

REAL Summer Learning Journey Day 17 - Activity 1 - Post 8 - Taking Action

Taking Action

Sorry for not uploading in a while because I was busy especially with Christmas and New Year.
Endangered animals are animal species (Basically type of animal) that's just about or almost have none of that type of animal left in Earth. Meaning that we will never see them again. Oh, I almost forgot. "HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!" Anyway. Onto the topic of this specific post. There are some endangered animals here in New Zealand. Right? Predators (animals that hunt for some specific animals) make these animals endangered. The animals who get hunted by predators are called prey. Here's an endangered animal in New Zealand. You know Māui right? That Maori guy from the movie Moana? Never heard of him. Most likely you know him. Anyway, his name came into a dolphin! Called The Māui Dolphin. A rare (Hard To Find) and small creature. Well... My research says that females (Girls if you didn't know) grow up to 1.7 Metres and weigh 50 kilograms! 12 kilograms away from the average (around the middle) human weight of 62 kilograms. Anyway onto the actual thing. So, I had 3 videos to choose from. The one I chose is ZIP or Zero Invasive Predators. The 3 videos are under the picture of the dolphin and are labeled. As always, I really appreciate how much time you put into reading my posts! And finally! As always, blog ya later!
