REAL Summer Learning Journey Day 17 - Activity 1 - Post 8 - Taking Action

Taking Action

Sorry for not uploading in a while because I was busy especially with Christmas and New Year.
Endangered animals are animal species (Basically type of animal) that's just about or almost have none of that type of animal left in Earth. Meaning that we will never see them again. Oh, I almost forgot. "HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!" Anyway. Onto the topic of this specific post. There are some endangered animals here in New Zealand. Right? Predators (animals that hunt for some specific animals) make these animals endangered. The animals who get hunted by predators are called prey. Here's an endangered animal in New Zealand. You know Māui right? That Maori guy from the movie Moana? Never heard of him. Most likely you know him. Anyway, his name came into a dolphin! Called The Māui Dolphin. A rare (Hard To Find) and small creature. Well... My research says that females (Girls if you didn't know) grow up to 1.7 Metres and weigh 50 kilograms! 12 kilograms away from the average (around the middle) human weight of 62 kilograms. Anyway onto the actual thing. So, I had 3 videos to choose from. The one I chose is ZIP or Zero Invasive Predators. The 3 videos are under the picture of the dolphin and are labeled. As always, I really appreciate how much time you put into reading my posts! And finally! As always, blog ya later!

  2. Hi Patrick,

It's Leslie here, writing to you as a member of the Summer Learning Journey team, from my home in Canada. Isn't it amazing that I can be a member of the team, living on the other side of the planet?! We're having our winter just now so my yard is covered with snow and the temperature outside is usually well below 0 degrees celsius. Perhaps that's hard for you to imagine as you enjoy a summer day in Auckland!

I'm so glad that you've chosen to be involved in the Summer Learning Journey program. Good for you! And you've completed a number of activities - that's great! It's completely understandable that you've take a break away from SLJ over the Christmas/New Year's time. I hope you and your family have had a lovely holiday so far!

You've done a good job of downloading the images of the videos that were on offer. And I'm glad that you chose the ZIP project as your favourite. It's a great effort on the part of the DOC and NEXT organizations, isn't it?

The activity, however, asks you to say "why" you chose the video you did, as your favourite. Perhaps you could add a few lines to this posting to complete this activity fully.

I'll look forward to checking back and to reading more of your blog postings!

    Have a great summer day!

    Cheers,

    Leslie
